The Rich and Celeberty famous have many things in common but one of them is th high profile costly divorce. If a high-profile couple is trying to minimize tabloid coverage of their divorce, and/or protect their children from seeing the split all over newsstands, they oftentimes try to hammer out a divorce settlement before formally filing for the split.
“People may not even realize that this couple is getting divorced but we’re actually all the way through the entire settlement before they even file anything with the court and announce to the world that they’re splitting up,” “Then they don’t have to go through their entire divorce-settlement negotiation under a microscope.”
To keep meetings as covert as possible, Hollywood’s family-law attorneys have become savvy in the art of evading paparazzi—speaking to their clients by phone, arranging for them to park underneath their offices, or meeting them at a private location such as the client’s or lawyer’s house.
Although tabloid coverage is useless in court—(“It’s considered hearsay,” )—the photos inside your favorite trashy magazine are a different story. In particularly contentious divorces, where one side is alleging that the other has been abusing alcohol, lying about his/her whereabouts, or is unfit to parent, lawyers can pore through paparazzi pictures in hopes of finding incriminating evidence.
No private investigator has to be hired in a celebrity case because TMZ and the paparazzi already follow them, They do our work for us. In a celebrity case, every move they make is going to be photographed.
Hersh elaborates on one situation in which a paparazzi photograph was used successfully.
There was a case where there was an issue of somebody drinking, and we found a picture in the papers, a tabloid, of that person in New York with a glass. We couldn’t prove whether it was apple juice or scotch inside it, but it was in the evening and the person had a highball glass, like you would drink scotch out of. The divorce lawyer in the case didn’t get a home run from that picture, but he got a triple. It was obvious what it was.”
These days, once a celebrity has filed for divorce, it is not uncommon for the news to be splashed on TMZ and here on SPY within the hour.
Hollywood lawyers believe this is because “the county clerk’s office at Los Angeles Superior Court tips off tabloids when a famous name shows up on a filing.”) Aside from filing in branch offices, which some lawyers do occasionally when they are dealing with celebrity clients, there is not much that can be done.
“There’s a motion to seal the files that can be made, But that’s very difficult, because [the legal system thinks] that the public has a right to know in all.
So as Tammy Wynette sings “D-I-V-O-R-C-E” we here at SPY present some of the most exspensive divorse settlements in breef. Now they are not in order of bad to worst. It is simplely a collection of paying for ones mistakes.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=912DKxD0H1U
