Charlie Brooker, People Just Do Nothing and Fleabag‘s Phoebe Waller-Bridge were among the big winners at the 2017 British Academy Television Awards (BAFTAs) last night (May 14).

The annual awards event, which celebrates the best of British television, was held yesterday at the Royal Festival Hall in London, with various awards given out for drama, comedy, factual and entertainment programming.

nintchdbpict000314096343Among the big winners at the BAFTAs last night was Brooker, who picked up the award for ‘comedy and comedy entertainment program’ for his satirical round-up program 2016 Wipe – which bested Wipe castmember Philomena Cunk’s mockumentary on Shakespeare.Another BBC mockumentary, People Just Do Nothing, was also victorious, scooping the prize for ‘scripted comedy’. While Waller-Bridge lost out in that category, the Fleabag creator did win the award for ‘Female performance in a comedy program’. Steve Coogan, meanwhile, won ‘male performance in a comedy program for Alan Partridge’s Scissored Isle.
