Comedians are having a field day after “Dick Poop” was nominated for an Academy Award.
Yes, that is not a typo.
During the nominations announcement, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president Cheryl Boon Isaacs said “Dick Poop.”
Maybe it was the very early morning hour.
Maybe it was a smudge on her glasses.
Or maybe she harkened back to a childhood name game.
For whatever reason, Cheryl’s gaffe is now part of OSCAR history.
Of course she corrected herself quickly, meaning to say Dick Pope, for Cinematography in Mr. Turner.
Said Pope after hearing of the slip of the tongue, “You know what, I have been called a lot worse in my time. I don’t think twice about anything like that. I am happy to be nominated,” he said. “I have never been on Twitter and I don’t know what trending means. I am completely naive,” he added. “All I know is that I have a lot of e-mails here saying I am trending on Twitter. They might as well be saying I am landing on the moon, as far as I am concerned.”
